The feature film "SM Rechter" had some of the most authentic SM scenes I've ever seen and certainly in a mainstream film. it's based on a true story about a judge whose wife is into SM and becomes depressed. She confesses her desires to her husband and he learns about it because he loves her and wants her to be happy. Through this exploration together they fall madly in love all over again and their relationship is taken to new heights. Because of his position, he has enemies who later use his SM activities to take everything away from him, they cannot understand why she should want it. Though there is some SM in the movie, it's really a beautiful and tender love story. the film brought up some interesting points and was really well-done on several levels, not just on the action.

Inspired by novels of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (Heritage of Cain, Venus in Furs) the audience dives into a deep studio where different people interact. It has something of theatre. The actors perform exzessively and explore the psychological abyss. A negative portrayal of SM and sort of a warning like THE PET and DANIELLE'S PRISONER. But no matter how you interprete this disturbing work of art, you will be impressed.

Reminded my of LA CAGE (1975), LA GABBIA (1985), COMBAT DE FAUVES (1997), SON DE MAR (2001) and BOY IN A BATHTUB (2006). Mediocre film of first time director Pfleger unfortunately mixes up consensual and criminal behaviour.

- our language has not enough words to express certain situations/feeling ("fun-pain")
- the strange feelings of people of colour in BDSM (there always were) in contrast/history of colialism/real slavery.
- the healing aspect of bdsm
- wrestling is socially accepted, whipping each other not; an accident during a consensual sm-play seems to show how dangerous bdsm is - but a broken leg during football-traing doesn't lead to a discussion to forbid football
- safewords (slow down or stop or faster) are not only for the bottom but also for the top
The activists are very selfconfident and sometimes you may get the impression everybody should try sm;
but I think it's not a good agenda to have symbols of power and games involving 'violence' in every bedroom - only those who feel and daydream in that way should have their way and community as an accepted/tolerated part of the general socitey.

This film is an authentic portrait of the Seattle scene and – in parts – of the director. A personal film. The audience gets to know something of Robin's life and it was good to see her at the end of the film, as a part of the community.
It was surprising to see interview-partners hiding their faces. In other documentaries people have the courage to show themselves, to come out. In this film some people, not all, but some cover their identity. I can understand that and especially for the priest. These scenes with masks or talking shadows are a visual accusation of a society that still gives disadvantages to those who express how they feel or how they are.
Medical play is a special fetish and in parts not so easy to watch. When the people involved talk about their session it get’s more comfortable for the viewer (sessions are not intended to be good for voyeurs, sessions are no show-acts, they are just fort he two people involved – but if you see this documentary as a viewer you have an opinion and tell how you feel watching the scene). Some parts of the film seem to be edgy and so s&m keeps it’s rough and dangerous power in opposition to clean consumable fashionable mainstream-fetish-stuff. People are shown as they ae. They don’t have the model-look, they are just as they are, people from the neighbourhood, like you and me. It’s the beauty of everybody. It’s the beauty of people who open their soul. One guest oft he festival said, that it wasn’t done professionally, his example was, that someone looked into the camera. I didn’t get that. Even if that was the case (which would in no way be representative for the film) that isn’t disturbing as long as something real is expressed and it would underline the aspect of authenticity. The same man stated that he couldn’t see the aim of this film? He said this could go on and on, where is the conclusion? Someone else said that it was interesting to see how embarrassed the conservative christian people react in the US and he was glad that we have a more liberal situation in Europe. Meanwhile we here we have the impression that bdsm has no provocative potential and no one cares.
Interesting the difference made for SSC and RACK. SSC means Safe Sane Consensual while more open RACK stands for Risk Aware Consensual Kink. SADISTIC LADIES OF CRUELLA Vol.13

Convincing beautiful Women, excellent photos. Most films are very good, they show the confrontation of the sexes and there's no doubt who is in charge and who has to serve.
Is there still the vision in the background of each shortfilm of a world strictly ruled by women? Probably. This is not the caring sensitive domme, here are strict commanding women (with "no mercy").
May this still be called "consensual"? Not easy to answer. Consensual for the actors, that's clear. Consensual for the figures/"characters" (there are no full characters)? Roles are clear from the beginning and there is no sort of conversation (or negotiation-process). On the other hand there are no signs of disagreement from these men (they want it that way; or are they broken, mentally instable or blackmailed?). Maybe this unclear situation is a wanted provocation.
These films are impressive and unique.
But Volume 13? These are not highlights of Cruella. Why is the bedroom-domination of the sexy blonde with her lover on a leash on this DVD? Obviously these actors are from eastern europe and not from England. This is the softer caring loving domination, which is nice to watch - but this isn't typical Cruella-style. The latex-domme with her two naked slaves is more what you expect, this is ok. The last episode is the best, although ambivalent. Bad sound and an extra scene, that is interesting but ruins the 'bizarre beauty' of a reduced storyline (taking the slaves from the building, punishment, then leading them back - that would have been a simple but nice structure; ruined by an additional scene which comes immedeately showing trampling and "ashtray"-demands). Mistress Jo (May) is there which is always a guarantee of quality; but there's also dark-haired Lady, often spanking by standing legs apart wearing a skirt which makes her a Lady. There are exciting moments; but the spanking takes too long, again and again they hit (too) hard and don't seem to care about safety/sanity aspects; one sub was also in the second episode of this DVD; for the other man the pain is too much and as a viewer with human feelings you feel bad and ashamed that they didn't find an earlier point to stop the scene.
After the screening the audience discussed about this DVD. The beautiful bedroom-couple was "boring", there was a lack of tension; the second episode was called good; the third was too extreme, how did the men take so much pain? One woman said, there are some men who want and somehow enjoy real pain (maybe only afterwards).

THE PET
A strange but interesting film. A thriller, a special S&M-film and a Film about the declaration/value of human rights. Much controversity in the following discussion.

Filmed in black and white, has the rhythm and tone of a dream. Men, fascinated by female strength, go willingly/unwillingly into the 'spiderwoman's net'.
It's exciting to get to see this film, but even better on the big screen (and not just on a wall but in a cinema, a social room with a value and meaning, which gives the screening additional meaning - not easy to repeat!).

Then shortfilm AIRPORT. Director Manuela Kay is there and talks about lesbian porn, budget and how the shooting was. She is a tough person in the positive meaning.
AIRPORT has a long underground lesbian-leather-club scene. For my taste some scenes were too long. Media for a long time potrayed women to be warm-hearted, lovely and emotional - maybe this one was created in opposition to that and so it was overdone. Anyway, it's a pleasure to see a rarity.

MANO DESTRA. So fascinating on the big screen. Wow!

BOUND FOR PLEASURE
A documentary about professional dominatrixes in Auckland (New Zealand), also about a crossdressing domme and a master. Interviews and session scenes. They know what they do.
A good one.

GOING UNDER
Film starts with warm lightning and with the intimacy of a dungeon. Dominatrix and masochistic man. Roger Rees plays that man and he looks like Willem Dafoe. He is married and confesses to his wife the affair with the dominatrix, played by Geno Lechner (very good). He seeks a relationship with her outside the dungeon, but she is indecisive and wants to quit the job.

Director Eric Werthman always finds the right tone to describe the situation. Very good actors, a fascinating mood, interesting characters with a social environment, sensitive and open dungeon-scenes and the complex problem of two people who try to get closer to each other. This film has depth and mood.

Miho Nikaido, who plays Suzanne's jealous lesbian lover, performed 12 years ago in japanese sm-film TOKYO DECADENCE.
Yesterday we watched SECRETARY and that came to my mind because in both films man and woman try to communicate, to learn more about the other person, to really get to know and understand each other, to keep a distance or to get closer.
There's one scene with her in the dungeon with another client, who expresses his specific needs and tries to top her. Her reaction is real anger and you can see that on her face when she spanks him (after the screening someone said this scene is as good as a scene in classic WOMAN IN FLAMES with Gudrun Landgrebe).
Director Eric Werthman worked as a psychotherapist and this is the profession Roger Rees has in his film. Although GOING UNDER is Werthman's first feature film he is able to create scenes of intensity. And he avoids to add a crime story (unlike WALK ALL OVER ME).

The audience was deeply impressed by this unknown film.
Why did moviegoers ignore this film?

First watched it five years ago. When I saw it now again I realized that I forgot some parts.
Good to see this influential film again.

A contradiction: you really want to watch a movie, but you are not always in the right mood to do so...

Day One

WANDA SM
Document about performance project by austrian artist Irene Andessner. This was the opening of the festival. Few people showed up. But that led to the advantages of small groups: communication is easier. Everyone expressed his thoughts about the shortfilms and about WANDA SM.
Irene Andessner is interested in impersonation of women: forgotten women or self confident women. WANDA SM started already in 2001 when she performed as Marlene Dietrich, one part of that project was shown in Kiel "Bondage" where several men try to bind a tie for her.
She is beautiful and cool, also in four part performance WANDA SM which took place 2003 in Graz. The first part "The contract" is the most intense. She added her own inspiration to Sacher-Masoch's "Venus in Furs"-situation. In opposition to Wanda von Sacher-Masoch the artist is really the dominant one. The other parts are of interest too, but are not as intense as the first part. It was very good to watch these scenes!

WALK ALL OVER ME

Although film was presented in original version without subtitles, which makes it difficult to reach the audience in Germany, here many people attended the screening. WALK ALL OVER ME is the only movie that has it's own posters in the entrance hall of the cinema (the producers other films didn't create posters).
Director and author Robert Cuffley sent a video-greeting from Canada which was very nice.
For him this is a low-budget-production - but production values are high, prooved by the excellent trailer. Movie is a comedy about erotic aspects and also about three gangsters.
Both female leads are beautiful to watch. The introduction, the first 30 minutes rise expectations. Until the gangsters appear (in a relaxed moment of femdom-play, these gangsters ruin the session and also the film). They are dangerous on the one hand but also stupid on the other. Film loses his direction. The erotic topic of discovering a new world (similar to "24/7 The Passion of Life") would have been a basis for a better film.
The audience had sympathies for WALK ALL OVER ME, but it's not a film that is considered to be really good. A plus: Film provides two femdom-couples with happy ends.

HIGH ON HEELS
Dita von Teese right now is on the cover of Playboy and DARK SPY. She is en vogue. That's the reason why some people joined the late screening.
Before we could see the Queen of Glamour one scene of NYLON-LUDER starring Carmen Rivera was shown. The audience was amused.
HIGH ON HEELS is intended to give pleasure to the audience. No story, no dialogue, just footworship, just the celebration of beauty. To see these images on the big screen was delightful.
But I got the impression that many didn't like it. Screening ended after midnight and no one was in the mood for a discussion. Some said, that it was boring for them. Later a couple said that they really enjoyed the film. Tastes are different.
